Welcome to the 2023 Sundowners Portal. Here, players may find match schedules, flight information, and league results.  

Teams have been flighted by combined handicap index of the primary team members. 

Format: Four Ball Match Play. Each nine hole match will be worth nine points. A hole won is worth one point, a hole tied is worth 1/2 a point, and a hole lost is worth 0. Matches will be played at 50% of your course handicap, stroked off of the low player in the group. Matches may start on the 1st or the 10th hole. 

Substitutes or Alternates: Each team may have a third member or Alternate who can act as a substitute without penalty if one of the primary team members is unable to play. A team in need of a substitute that does not have a third team member, can use any male golfing member of Walpole C.C. so long as he is not already a primary team member of another Sundowners team in the same flight. However, that substitute will have a playing handicap of two strokes less than their course handicap. 

Scheduling Matches: A list of contact numbers and emails of all Sundowners participants can be found here. Please contact a member of the team you are scheduled to play and decide on a time to meet on Tuesday. If for any reason you and your partner can not make it on Tuesday make sure to contact the opposing team and let them know you will not be there. If both teams are in agreement, a match does not have to be played on Tuesday. Matches scheduled before the midpoint of the season must be made up by June 27th. Teams that cannot make up a match by the deadline will receive three points each. The same procedure will be in place for matches in the 2nd half of the season, with the deadline being August 22nd. Scorecards will be printed by the Golf Shop prior to play on Tuesday. Please ensure that the correct players are listed on ForeTees.  The list of substitutes can be seen on the Sundowners portion of the Golf Page on your Walpole Country Club website. 

Optional Tournament: Each week the Golf Shop will run an optional event. The format will vary from one week to the next. The $5 per player entry fee will be charged to your house account. We will be utilizing Golf Genius to handle all event scoring. If you have not yet done so, please download the Golf Genius Mobile App in order to enter your hole by hole scores each week.
